Celine
Celine is the 76-year-old French fashion house, associated with Parisian chic and timeless elegance. Founded in 1945 by the married Vipiana couple, Céline and Richard, who had no professional design experience, the brand has quickly grown from a made-to-measure children’s shoe boutique into one of the most famous luxury fashion houses in the world. The Celine of today epitomizes effortless, sophisticated French fashion, creating wonderfully minimalistic pieces appreciated by millions of modern-day working men and women. Combining timeless styles with contemporary sportswear, the brand offers nothing but ultimate comfort and unbeatable style.
Paying homage to Parisian chic and utilizing premium quality materials, Celine creates outstanding products with artistic director Hedi Slimane at the helm. The same values are translated into the brand’s eyewear collections, which are a perfect mix of classic and modish frames depicting a refined and contemporary silhouette. Nowadays, the Celine sunglasses and optical frames are created by Thélios, the joint venture between LVMH and Marcolin Group, which also designs and manufactures eyewear for such world- renowned brands as Loewe, Kenzo, Berluti, Louis Vuitton and Fenty. The latest eyewear collection from Celine is a fashion-forward assortment of ultra-modern shades and prescription glasses.

History
Celine was established by Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard in 1945, when the Second World War had just drawn to a close. Initially, it was a children’s shoe boutique that offered ‘haute couture’ shoes for kids. Shortly after, the brand had spread across Paris and extended to include a women’s clothing line. Céline’s main idea was to create comfortable everyday clothes, elegant and stylish, yet without any irrelevant polish. To make it come true, she used at first such fabrics like leather, denim and wool. In the 1960s, the designer created her first line of leather goods and accessories, before a natural progression to design the ‘sportswear’ collection in 1968. Shortly afterwards, the brand expanded its lines to fragrances and jewelry.
Today, that same ‘haute couture’ spirit is reinforced by artistic director Hedi Slimane through the ateliers at 16 Rue Vivienne. From outstanding ready-to-wear outfits and handbags to shoes and eyewear, his elegant and chic designs showcase the meticulous possibilities of French craft within the Celine wardrobe. To pay homage to the heritage, the ‘triomphe’ monogram was restored – a symbol of the house of Celine since 1971.
